Gábor Csalog

Gábor Csalog was born in Budapest in 1960 and entered the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music at the age of 11 as a specially gifted pupil. Among his teachers were Zoltán Kocsis, György Kurtág, Pál Kadosa and András Schiff. He continued his postgraduate studies with
György Sebök at Indiana University, remaining there for a further two years as his teaching assistant. As well as the standard repertoire, he is a noteworthy performer of contemporary music and has worked closely with composers including György Kurtág (whose complete piano works he is currently recording) and László Sary.

He has presented many premieres of their works on the radio and in public performances. But he has also won great acclaim for his recordings of works by Schumann and Scriabin, as well as Chopin's mazurkas and nocturnes for the Hunaraton and Fono Record labels. With András Keller, he is recording all the violin and piano works of Bartok for ECM.
