Gábor
Csalog
Gábor Csalog was born in Budapest
in 1960 and entered the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music at the
age of 11 as a specially gifted pupil. Among his teachers were
Zoltán Kocsis, György Kurtág, Pál
Kadosa and András Schiff. He continued his postgraduate
studies with György
Sebök at Indiana University, remaining there for a further
two years as his teaching assistant. As well as the standard
repertoire, he is a noteworthy performer of contemporary
music and has worked closely with
composers including György
Kurtág
(whose complete piano works he is currently recording) and László
Sary. |

He has presented many premieres of their works on the radio
and in public performances. But he has also won great acclaim
for his recordings of works by Schumann and Scriabin, as well
as Chopin's mazurkas and nocturnes for the Hunaraton and Fono
Record labels. With András Keller, he is recording all
the violin and piano works of Bartok for ECM. |
